Staff Wellbeing
Trauma victims seek help from different types of organisations, for example in healthcare, legal support or advice services. For staff of these organisations, work is often highly rewarding, with employees reporting a strong sense of purpose, community and agency.
However, frequent exposure to survivors’ traumatic stories, and seeing traumatic material, can have huge emotional impact on staff. It can negatively affect their mental health and potentially cause stress, burnout, compassion fatigue, anxiety and depression.
