workforce trauma—

Everyone should be protected from traumatic stress in the workplace.

tti works with organisations supporting people or communities psychologically affected by collective violence.

Staff of these organisations may be at risk of secondary trauma due to exposure to upsetting material, or they may be experiencing violence or abuse through their work, either physically or online.

We help our partner organisations to stay psychologically healthy and organisationally robust, so they can best support their service users and continue their vital work.

We work with them to put in place sustainable support systems that protect the mental health and wellbeing of their teams and prevent the re-traumatisation of their service users.

Our partnerships begin with a Trauma Exposure Risk Assessment.

This is carried out by one of our clinical or counselling psychologists and provides an overview of how trauma is affecting the organisation.

We also work with partners to establish staff wellbeing strategies. These include:

  • Supervision or therapy for those at risk of burnout or secondary trauma

  • Group supervision for teams exposed to trauma through working with violent material or with clients who are traumatised

  • Training for trustees, leadership teams, frontline staff and volunteers

  • Support to embed trauma-informed approaches into policies, including critical incident and human resources documents

  • Guidance on how best to support volunteers, trustees and staff with lived experience of violence

  • Reflective practice
