A look back at two incredible years for Trauma Treatment International

It’s UK Charity Week this week, and we’re looking back on a fantastic couple of years for Trauma Treatment International (TTI) to mark the occasion.

Since our first paid Chief Executive Officer, Quen Geuter, took on the role at the end of 2020, we have a huge raft of highlights of which we’re really proud:

  • Our organisation grew financially by 500 per cent in 2021, which doubled over the course of 2022

  • We have committed to excellence in delivery through our in-house pool of associate clinical psychologists and our Head of Clinical Services. Their expertise helps us work to the highest quality, meet the needs of our beneficiaries and build our reputation

  • We have been very successful in grant applications as a form of income generation, at a very difficult time for the charity sector

  • Securing bright young interns has helped us build our capacity in marketing, public relations and Crowdfunding

  • We have a diverse selection of inspirational board members. They are focused on ambitious growth, but are also understanding of the restrictions of our limited budget!

  • Our core team has grown, working tirelessly within a limited time frame to fulfil the goals of our organisation – to which they are all fully committed

  • We have built strong relationships with partners and donors, based on an open and transparent commitment to our shared objectives. Flexibility has been key to the success of these relationships; it means we can learn and adapt together as situations change, or in order to improve the impact for our beneficiaries

  • We have invested in strategic planning and a theory of change project. These have been carried out with input from the whole team, including associates, trustees and volunteers. The work has brought about a sharper understanding of our elevator pitch, and has solidified our goals and long-term focus

  • A new website has been launched to reflect our strategic priorities and give visitors a clear journey in terms of usability and functionality

So what does 2023 have in store for Trauma Treatment International?

  • Quen will return to the UK after holding the fort from Stockholm for the last two years

  • Work to develop partnerships in Scandinavia will continue

  • Our other international work will continue to expand post-pandemic, and we hope to build upon a new relationship with This Is Eden in Myanmar

  • We are about to start a big recruitment drive for associate psychologists and office staff, so watch this space for more information!

  • A further focus on training will lead us into the spring, with particular emphasis on building access to trauma-based information through our Resilience Hub.

  • Our partnerships will continue to grow and strengthen, not least through the Trauma-Informed Refugee Hosting Coalition.

We hope to end 2023 with another 100 per cent growth in income. This will help us work at the scale necessary to reach our ambitious objectives and help victims of collective violence, anywhere in the world, to heal from trauma.
