Victims of extremely threatening and horrific events, such as modern slavery, torture, terrorism and hostage situations, can receive support via TTI’s Trauma Clinic, both online and face-to-face.
Our psychological treatment has been proven to be effective by high-quality research. This is called evidence-based practice. All our treatment is provided by specialist clinical psychologists who have extensive experience in treating victims of trauma.
Currently, we are only providing treatment in our clinic to individuals referred to us by one of our partner organisations.
This is because people who have experienced extreme trauma often have multiple needs, such as problems arising from legal, social or financial matters. Psychological treatment works best when these needs are being met by other organisations.
Treatment can be held online via video link or face-to-face at our dedicated practice in London’s Vauxhall, depending on the location of the client.
In particular, we welcome referrals in support of strategic litigation cases which aim to end human rights abuses, and promote accountability for those who perpetrate them.
Our therapy enables victims to better participate in legal procedures, and provide what would be considered a more reliable witness testimony in the legal context.
Clients SHOULD:
Have been referred to TTI by a partner organisation
Be aged 18 or over
Be suffering from psychological difficulties caused by extremely threatening and horrific events, such as modern slavery, torture, terrorism and hostage situations
Speak fluent English (NB: In exceptional cases, we will accept referrals for non-English speakers, but an interpreter must be provided and funded by the referring organisation)
Have access to a reliable internet connection, a computer, and a private, quiet space if attending therapy via a video link
UNFORTUNATELY, We cannot provide treatment to those:
Who have not been referred by one of our partner organisations
Whose psychological difficulties are primarily the result of other types of trauma or adverse events, or are the result of trauma in childhood
Who are at high or immediate risk of suicide, or who are at risk of causing harm to others
Who are currently suffering with severe psychotic symptoms
Whose alcohol or drug use prevents them from engaging in treatment
