Time to Talk Day
It’s Time to Talk Day, an annual event which urges us all to come together, talk about our wellbeing and reduce the stigma of being too open about our mental health.
The theme of this year’s event is Brave the Big Talk. But that doesn’t mean that you have to immediately dive into the biggest issues in your life. Braving the Big Talk could simply mean starting a conversation with someone about a worry you have – or, on the flip side, checking in with a friend who doesn’t seem ok.
Our Clinical Director, Dr Zoe Given-Wilson, says: “Being ‘brave’ can be a loaded term, but a small act of bravery could be speaking up about a scary/difficult feeling or recognising that someone around you is struggling and being brave enough to address it with them. Big talk can start with small, supportive words and actions.”
She adds: “Talking about something distressing can help lighten the load and help you move on with your life.”
